Fashion photography is the art of taking photographs of models for the sake of showcasing a particular clothing, jewelry or makeup line. Fashion photographer can be shot either in conventional film style or digital.

Over the past 10-20 years modeling has come on the forefront of pop culture, and most people know what fashion photography is thanks to the supermodel phase, as well as an influx of reality shows seeking out the nest big thing in fashion models, fashion designers and fashion photographers. Modeling itself is a form of commercial art, and the models are an essential part of fashion photography.

The fashion photographer must be flexible to work in a multitude of locations. Because fashion photographer is also considered an art form, many locations are considered difficult terrain, and the photographer must be experienced with his or her equipment, and comfortable enough with their style.
